AAA : A New Phenomenon of Indonesian Collector

It's a usual and pretty normal for collector to looking for error banknote or fancy number like ABC999999 or something like that. But collecting AAA were something not really familiar for mostly collector. Yes, some of them willing to collect it, and actually the market is also not really big. 

But its change when New NKRI 2016 issued, people went to crazy looking for "brick" once again "brick" of them. The price of them are also very very high. In the peak of euphoria a brick of IDR 1,000.00 or the nominal same as IDR 1.000.000,00 even valued for IDR 3,500,000.00 or same as USD 262.15 (rate : IDR 13,351.00), and regularly slowing to IDR 2,000,000. to IDR 2,500,000 per brick.

But not all denomination worth in multiple their face value like IDR 1,000.00, another denomination like IDR 2,000.00, IDR 5,000.00, IDR 10,000.00, IDR 20,000.00, IDR 50,000.00, IDR 100,000.00 only worth 10% of their face value.

The question is.. what make it really valuable? and why IDR 1,000.00 is the most valuable denomination?

The answer of first question is

Indonesia Banknote has 6 digit of number it, its mean in every 1 million banknote issued the prefix will change. The prefix start at AAA000001 and will be end at AAA999999. After it passed we will not have a chance anymore to get AAA prefix becauase they will change to be AAB000001-AAB999999 and so on. In every brick of banknote contain as much 1000 paper money. It's mean only 1000 brick AAA prefix banknotes issued by the government, and surely not all the brick perfectly come to us. So the bricks AAA prefix banknote are really limited.

And why IDR 1,000.00 is the most valuable? the answer is

Because IDR 1,000.00 is the only issued money with two kind of form in this emission. First is coin, and another is banknote. It is logical thing that the amount of IDR 1,000.00 banknote will be reduced and replaced by IDR 1,000.00 coin production. It's mean the availability of IDR 1,000.00 banknote probably less than another banknote and surely the scarcity make it more worthy than another.

and the last.. we still have big question mark to the 2016 emission because no one have an idea it will be replaced by new emission at 2017 or not? if yes, it's mean the availability of 2016 emission are very small. Psychologically it's affect people to pile them up more and more as the king or queen of 2016 AAA prefix banknote.
